The Kitchen is Functional!

1979 KITCHEN PROGRESS REVEAL COVER PHOTOWoo hoo, our kitchen is finally functional!  The sink works, the counter tops are finished and installed, and the appliances are all in. I’ve alluded to this in the past few posts but wasn’t sure if I was ready yet to share our progress to date.  Enough suspense though, it is definitely time to share. Plus, who knows how long it will be until we get to 100% completely final completion.

So, without further ado, here’s our fully functional kitchen:1979 KITCHEN PROGRESS PHOTO 2

I can’t decide if my favorite part is the glass cabinets over the ovens or the gigantic working space at the peninsula.  We still have so much left to do in the kitchen but I feel so grateful just to have it functioning.  The back splash is probably the next big priority as we’ve already had one incidence of blender explosion which left permanent purple stains all over the unpainted wall. After that we still need the hood, custom shelves over the trash can, attach the counter-top cabinets, finish painting the trim, and baseboards but I don’t even care at this point!

If you are curious, here’s the details on the kitchen thus far:

Cabinets: Ikea Bodbyn
Pulls: Ikea Lansa
Counter tops: Ikea Hammarp Oak
Sink: Ikea Domsjo
